recent FCP switcher w/ two small issues

Hey guys. Recent convert to Premiere CS6 from FCP 7. Overall the switch is going well, but two things are tripping me up and I was wondering if there might be easy solutions I'm just missing. I've tried searching but they're pretty specific little issues and I haven't been able to find anything, so I was hoping someone here might be able to help.

1) overwriting when Nudging. I used nudging a lot in FCP (and Avid before that) (i.e. the using ">,<" keys to move a clip frame by frame once selected,  or option + ">/<" in Premiere). Here's my issue: in Avid and FCP when you nudged a clip to the point that it hit another clip on the track, the nudging would stop. Meanwhile in Premiere, the selected clip continues going, overwriting the non-selected clip with the selected one. Which is annoying to me. It was nice knowing the program had my back and would stop me when I'd hit a wall vs. having to sctrutinize every time to make sure I'm not overwriting something. Is there a way to change this overwriting behaviour of the nudge function in Premiere. Or is this just something I'm going to have to get used to?

2) deselecting individual clips when using Track Select. Sometimes when you use the Track Select to select all clips before or after the playhead, you accidentally select a track you don't want to move (like a bg music track). In FCP, I'd just command click that specific clip to deselect it and everything else would stay selected. Meanwhile in Premiere there doesn't seem to be any way to tweak the Track Selection once you've made it. Am I missing something? Or is this just another difference I'll have to get used to?

thanks in advance.
