Hi,
I have Premiere Pro CS6 running on my laptop (dual core 2.10 GHz, 4gb ram, 5400 rpm HD, onboard ATI 4200 video) and it runs very smoothly. Previewing full HD 1080p clips can be viewed with smooth crossfades and effects. The problem is that I prefer to edit video on my desktop computer which is much more powerful but for some reason has lately been running Premiere Pro CS4 unbearably slow. I can't run CS6 on my desktop because near as I can tell, CS6 will only run on a 64 bit system and mine is 32. My desktop has a dual core 2.5 GHz, 4gb ram, 7200rpm HD, PCIe GT 240 1gb video. The only place I can tell where my laptop exceeds my desktop in that I am running Vista Home 32 bit on the desktop and Windows 7 home 64 bit on my laptop.
My desktop computer used to run Premiere Pro CS4 very smoothly but now it's almost unusable. Rendering the final clips seems to be running at normal speed and the program loads normally. All other apps and programs on my computer run liquid smooth. I've heard about trying to disable hardware rendering in favor of software but I can't find where to do this in CS4. Any suggestions?
