how to tweak batch croping scripts?

I have a bunch of old photo albums with 4 photos per page, that my family members scanned in as an entire page.  I tried running the batch script that is located on other forum pages and it works fairly well, but leaves a lot of tiny edges of the clear photo holders and often will seperate it into 2 photos or 1 photo, and not 4.

Since there are 4 pictures on each page, and each album has the same physical layout and style of clear pages, I have to believe there is a way to tweak the script to adjust for this.

It would be perfect to split them 4 parts even, and then apply the filter to trim the plastic edges.

I am wondering if there is a way to edit the sensitivity of the cropping function, aka crop out parts that are "clear" or "crop 4 images of 5x7 size given this single photo"

I am fairly tech savy and can read code but was hoping someone could make my search a little easier.

Thanks

(this is what each page looks like)

(If they could all come out this good, I would be happy)

(but a lot turn out like this)  ScanImage224#007.jpg
